What's new

A dream i have for the last 20 years

Greetings!Hey there!

First of all, English isn't my native language (self-taught from movies, music, online forums, etc.) so you will have to excuse me for any typos (sorry in advance).

So, there is this particular (and quite specific in details, although i haven't dreamed about this for some weeks so it's possible that i'm forgetting something -which i will gladly update the next time i dream about this again) dream that i'm dreaming for the last 20 years or so, since i was a young kid in my 8 or 9 (i'm 30 by the way).

Although i remember the 3-4 most common variations of it, number #1 is the most common.

The dream is taking place both in POV and like you are spectating a movie, usually the two stages intersect the closer i walk through the key theme/element of the dream: an long abandoned amusement park.

Usually when the dream begins, i see -myself included- in a big wide movie screen-alike picture of a huge amusement park (as a matter of fact, i never happen to explore it in it's full length, usually the dream doesn't last that long) and as my self walks closer to the Ferris wheel (which is very rusty, it's like an post-apocalyptic mini-world where everything is decaying and abandoned, that kind of vibes) i slowly dream in POV and the more i walk through the amusement park, the more dark it becomes.

Basically, i never watched this dream other than in a sunset-alike shade, it's always mid-sunset and the moment i reach halfway to it's entrance (at least where it used to be, now it's just full of overgrown grass and a broken fench with rusty nails on top of it) i feel kinda cold.

It's always the time of summer, i don't know why i feel like that but it gives me summer vibes because when i watch myself running towards it, i'm wearing a green T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

The air smells like Disneyland, popsickles, candy cotton, ice creams, pop corns, that kind of childhood aesthetic.

The #1 variation: i climb through the entrance (in which i switch to POV and it feels like an urban exploration video or something, -what's weird is that now i really like both urban exploration (and as a kid i loved amusement parks) but i never walked through an abandoned building as a kid, as a matter of fact the whole idea repulsed me, i grew up in a neighborhood where junkies and aggressive homeless guys were sleeping-hanging out in such places, so for my younger self's POV, abandoned places was a synonym of "fear" , "danger" and "trouble") and i start explore the whole park, which is not only completely abandoned but not even stray animals like hedgehogs, raccoons or cats or birds (nothing really) is in there, also i somehow have the feeling (even if i can't prove it, it's more of a feel) that air isn't circulated in there, like when you dive in the sea, that kind of pressure and non-existence of oxygen.

I also don't see any shadows (not even my own) and what i do in my POV is simply turning my head right and left while i keep passing through the various big amusement machines/themes, like the "Haunted House" the other one with the cars (Go-karts) , the arcade games, the circus with the magicians and clowns, the escape room with the mirrors, etc.

I only walk pass these without entering any of these, it's like my feet are glued to the ground and i can't help it.

Suddenly i see a very bisg shadow (the only shadow i noticed so far) that is literally running towards me and the closer it gets, the bigger it becomes.

It's not exactly a shadow, more like something that i can't even comprehend to write about by describe it's essence, it's like anything that is in front of this shadow is getting absorbed within it, like that shadow erases the whole mini-world in it's passage (like when you use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust in your house).

The moment i decide to turn around and start running as fast as i can (because at first i'm simply speechless and petrified, it takes for me some seconds to understand what's happening) , this shadow starts to whisper me with the voice of a bully of mine when i was a kid, which progress only way louder and distorted (like in a heavy metal band) the closer it gets, and the exact moment when i climb and jump from the entrance's fence, this shadow consumes me and i see myself (from a distance, like now i'm a viewer of a movie, not POV anymore) becoming absorbed while screaming for it to stop.

The moment i hear myself scream, is the moment that i wake up and both of the screams synchronize.

The #2 variation: it's still the same old abandoned amusement park, only this time there are laughs everywhere, like there are kids in every game/machine, only that they are invisible and i can only hear their laughing.

I go to the Ferris wheel and it's like time stops when i'm on top of it because i can still see the sunset even if i feel like i'm up there for whole hours.

The longer i stay in the Ferris wheel, the more nostalgic i become, as if this will be my last memory of my childhood and the next day school summer break will be over and i will never have the chance to feel as joyfully as i felt at this moment, like this is the crossroad between a hopeless romantic kid and a teenager, or some sort of that, like i'm like Peter Pan today and tomorrow i will have to begin study hard in order to become a businessman or something.

The moment i get off the Ferris wheel, sunset is moving way faster, as if my childhood's time is running out.

I immediately run towards the nearest machine (the arcade games) but the sun is way gone and all i can listen to is the sound of fireworks but also fading sounda as if someone is blowing out his birthday cake's candles.

The moment i hear the fireworks in the night sky, i wake up (without screaming that time, only kinda sad -usually after that variation, i have a mini-existential crisis combined with daydreaming of my past self, like choices i could decide different, etc.) and that's it.

The #3 variation: i only perceive the dream in POV and i feel somehow like floating in the sky (like the POV of a drone or something, like in the movies in scenes when they show us the skyscrapers) , but the various obstacles in my upcoming direction don't seem to bother or even stop me from proceeding, it's like i can fly through them as if these are clouds.

Sunlight isn't fading away, on the contrary, i feel like the whole variation of the dream lasts less than some seconds (it feels like these "dreamcore" and "liminal spaces" reels on instagram, like something can make you feel cosy and as in a "safe zone" without necessarily staying in there for too long) and the moment i walk through the pink clouds that surround the end of that amusement park, i wake up, neither frightened or nostalgic like the first two variations, like i never had the chance to have a good time in that amusement park (which wasn't rusty the moment i passed through it -it actually felt brand new, like i time traveled at the time when the workers finish building it and i was the amusement park's very first customer- , but before and after visiting it, it became rusty and ugly once more) but the whole floating around and through obstacles was an adventures of it's own, so it's an oddly feeling, kinda satisfied, kinda indifferent.

These 3 variations of the same dream (visit in an abandoned amusement park) are something that troubled me for too long.

Lots of suncoscious metaphors/allegories in there, i'm sure, but i never discussed this with anyone else because i always forget how to mention it without enough details, it's like the moment i try to describe it it becomes like a blur photo.

I have been dreaming about it for at least 20 years but i usually end up with variation 1 or 2 (3 is VERY rare, only happened 4 or 5 times the last 2 years as i can recall).

I would love to know what others think about this or if anyone ever dreamed about similar dreams with abandoned amusement parks.

~ Thanks for reading~

I have read your dream(s and you have describe it very well, perfectly as a native speaker. I 'walked and flew trough it and I got the message: This is the movie of live choice(s your Soul, who as a parent and Protector hold/ held/ from childhoold on, keep holding in front of you to warn you, to make the right choice: NOT PLAY AROUND LIKE A KID, now that you see / saw the suffering, the fear, the missery, the woes, the distels in your growing up neighborhood, ... Thus NEVER AND NEVER CROSS THE FENCE OF ... THE VALLY OF DEATH, WHERE THE SATAN, THE RULER, THE BULLY THERE, WILL ALWAYS KEEP TRYING TO SEDUCE YOU, AS THE WITCH OF Hansel and Gretel AND WOOLF OF Little Red Riding Hood DID, WITH SILLY CHILDREN:

KEEP YOUR EYE OPEN LIKE A HAWK FROM ABOVE AND NEVER, NEVER CROSS THE FENCE OF THE VALLEY OF DEATH!!!!

Hi Randomguy, I did not realuzed the complexity of the work I promised. It would be too much work. I can really go on today until tomorrow to explain everything.Lets do it this way: You ask you want(ed) to know. Then I will go into that.

Do you believe the threw variations of that dream are interconnected?

Or are like three completely different dreams with the same theme (abandoned amusement park) and my psychology of that day makes me dream each different variation (i.e. #1 variation is more sad that #2, so if i'm feeling overwhelmed at that day i will subconsciously dream of #1 instead of #2) ?

Okey, great questions, because so I 'see', I've got the insight that have not completely understand what I have tried to explain. I assume that all these years you have dreamt what you call 'the three variations' many times#, repeating just as you have experienced as just only 3 variations.

What I have tried to say is that the series of 3 (, in all the small variations in the course of the years), are part of one message from your Soul / God:

Don't you ever cross the border otherwise this will happen to you, this will be your world in real live: suffering as you have whitnessed the suffering of the junks in your growing up neighborhood. Because Satan, "The only Shadow" will bully if you cross the fence and he so manage to swallow you.

The border, the fence is here the occultic world (Next Time I'll make clear how/ why i now that) : eating from the the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Your Soul, Your Spiritual Partner, knows that you are an adventurer in nature and you fon't need anybody to lure you in the dangers you have seen. You are 'a lonely woolf' (woolf in this case not in a bad sens).

If you really understand the message you will never have this dream again!!!

So ask more, it is complex. So that I provide in what you need to know at the moment. And eveybody reading this can help you ask critical questions to get to the button of the case!

Its to complex thys a bit at a time.

@Harvey what is that all-absorbing shadow (in #1 variation) means?

Is this an allegory of fear of growing up and losing my childhood's innocence?

Also, why am i still hearing the voice of my then-bully coming through that shadow?

I don't even remember his face, his name, etc. but i'm 100% sure that that's his voice.

Hi Random, I will list a few things / concepts that will help you to better understand what I am saying. But what is also good for you and anyone who wants to understand their dreams is to look at (all) my dreams, starting with the first dream I have decoded here at dreamforum on 2 or 3 Dec 2024. I always use a standard model of how the soul (de composer of the dreams) / God sees / depict man (the dreamer, the ego who dreams) as a being, namely:

A house (the body) in which the ego lives with his/her partner, the soul as a a couple (brought together by God), in which the his/ her spirit is represented as a child, a gift (of the soul / God) to that marriage.

The above is the basis, ... but what makes man 'child of God' (if you are convinced of that, as I am, is his (individual) Soul. I as the ego Harvey have an independent individual soul that is attached to me and that carries with her (I am a man so my spritual partner is a woman) the gift of dream interpretation and has thus endowed me with it! I am very, very good at that, but unfortunately I cannot make beautiful paintings and I am not a footballer. etc, etc.

so if you look at the dreams of others you will recognize your own dream with a slightly different twist. By reading dreams of others and the explanation, at some point you will recognize certain patterns that come back over and over again. It is difficult to abstract from your own dream so is easier to read these of others.

Back to your question. THAT ALL ABSORBING SHADOW IS THE DEVIL, Satan, The Lord of the darknes / The Darkness, THE Dragon, The Snake, The Wolf In Sheep clothes, The Lyer, The Death.

So the rusty abandoned attraction park is allegory of the realm of Death, The necropolis where he, The Devil is the ruler and oppresses everyone who ends up there and he keeps them in spiritual slavery. In the dreams of others, it, THE REALM OF DEATH is symbolized / represented by a cemetery or a junkyard or an abandoned withered desert, which also resembles your attraction park. It is at least mixed up, withered environment where there is no sign of life, ... other then the voice of The king of This Darkness, The Darkness and the voices of 'his children, the demons.

Bu as a contrast God, The Light, (The Tree Of) Live, let you see yourself as His Child, Child of The Light, Live, ... in the colors of heaven: blue and white clouds (we imagine heaven high up in the sky) and live simbolized as the colour green (of the tree of live) and spring and summer also represent live look at you, you are coverd with the colours of live:

"It's always the time of summer, i don't know why i feel like that but it gives me summer vibes because when i watch myself running towards it, i'm wearing a green T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes"
.... Till nex time

Nice way of thinking about this!

I never thought of that shadow to be Death or Satan.

Great reply! Thanks

As part of our souls, our shadows, with their higher consciousness,
know us intimately. Just as dreams dramatically address the issues of the dreamer,
so do physical ailments accurately symbolize the conflicts of an individual.

The shadow holds our patterns of greed, envy, control, manipulation, and self-abandonment until we are strong enough to release and transform them,
but the shadow itself is not dark and evil.
At least not the personal shadow...🎏

You might like an interesting book from Lionell Corbett because of your interest in demons and death:

Understanding Evil Evil
is a ubiquitous, persistent problem that causes enormous human suffering.
Although human beings have struggled with evil since the dawn of our species,
we seem to be no nearer to ending it.

In this book, Lionel Corbett describes the complexity of the problem of evil, as well as many of our current approaches to understanding it, in ways that are helpful to the practicing psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, or analyst.

Psychotherapists often work with people who have been the victims of evil, and, occasionally, the therapist is faced with a perpetrator of evil. To be helpful in these situations, the practitioner must understand the problem from several points of view, since evil is so complex that no single approach is adequate.

Understanding Evil: A Psychotherapist’s Guide describes a range of approaches to evil based on Jungian theory, psychoanalysis, social sciences, philosophy, neurobiology, mythology, and religious studies.

I assume that you have worked in your own practice in that way?
Are you a psychotherapist?🎏
