I have a lot of dreams where I'm wandering around in a semi-abandoned city, trash in the streets, gritty, stained sidewalks... the skies are cloudy, everything has this bleak, slum-like quality to it, and I KNOW that if any of the local inhabitants spot me, they'll come for me, and either hurt me badly, kill me, or do something unthinkably worse (whatever 'worse' is).

I walk into old, rotting houses/apartment buildings, wander down endless dark passageways that twist and turn, with dim rooms seen through open doorways, or I find rough gaps in the drywall, crooked openings revealing other rooms, and I get the distinct impression I'm not supposed to be looking into them.

Sometimes it's night, other times dim daylight. At times I'll peek at people in those dingy rooms; they're invariably women, and in some state of undress, and I observe them for a while then move on.

The impression of being in great danger of being noticed while creeping along the crumbling sidewalks in these decrepit cities is nearly overwhelming.

Sounds like your trapped im the wreckage of a life you kmow how to.handle, it appears like you desire to get out but yet you know the dangers and navigate it accordingly even your own emotional reactions to it.

So it feels a lot like the story a Girl who owned a City.... perhaps.you need to adopt that personal view of creating a village to survive the current fallout more healthily.
