What's new

Old clothes

Lately I've had a recurring dream about going through old clothes. They mostly are shirts and sweaters. One sweater was quite colorful, with nice designs on it. There may or may not have been family activity nearby. I was in a basement of a house. There are many of these clothes. Then I see a large box that's gift wrapped. Somehow I know it's for me. I open the top of it, and can see it's the largest box of laundry detergent ever. Then the dream is over.

FYI: The clothes are certainly clean, though that's really not the issue here. They are also neatly stacked, but that's not the point apparently. I also considered wearing the colorful sweater.

A little JUNGIAN thoughts here...in generell

The relative ease of handling clothing is often used for persona purposes, and it is often used to create a good impression ("Clothes make the man"), to deceive others, to hide behind them, or even to experiment with new behaviors while sheltered by them. We use this positively in plays, at carnivals, and in dress-up games, where it allows us to try out other roles and adopt character traits that are otherwise inaccessible to us in life, or that we have considered taboo (shadow). Many psychotherapeutic methods (psychodrama, bibliodrama, puppetry, and mask plays) demonstrate how healing it can be to come into playful contact with foreign and repelled characteristics and life forms in this way.

Thank you, Helia.
