Does anyone here believe in reincarnation?

I’ll take a higher level view of reincarnation. I believe that all matter and energy, and even to some extent, everything, flows from state to state, and never gets created or destroyed.

It’s my belief that nothing ever really stops existing in this world, and while I’m unsure about the physical aspect of the “spirit”, it seems feasible to me that our consciousness will be absorbed by the universe, and used in some other way later.

Perhaps the things we do in our lives, the manipulations we make in the world, the posts we make on this forum, is us “reincarnating” into other forms. Think about it, every time you read something on the internet that someone else wrote, you are becoming a little bit more like that person, at least aware of their opinions.

I’ll drop the ramble now lol

From my responses in this discussion-thread, I advocate views on the topic of reincarnation that avoids these esoteric theories, and favors the most plausible/scientific viewpoints possible.

The reputable studies e.g, the late Ian Stevenson seems to point-out an ample number of case-studies as past-lifes, and present lives being related. Personally, I sense the ancestry of my past life is very close to the ancestry in my present life -yet it's unknow if there is distant relative as a common factor.

If reincarnation does happen, we might treat the knowledge of a specific past-life similar to how we treat genealogical research findings in discovering a distant relative (or any relative) we didn't know existed.

I've never really been one to seperate spirituality and science, i believe that truly they are the same thing in certain ways. And enjoying the process of dicovering the changes and potential in spirituality like reincarnation i fully believe requires science to help us reach that true potential and understanding. Layered realities potentially being a huge part of that.

After reading through many thoughtful discussion threads in 'Reincarnation Forum' - I still view reincarnation as generally inconclusive.

Here are three selected 'Reincarnation Forum' discussion-threads specializing in dreams / possible past lives.

The discussion threads are posted in the 'Past Life Memories' Forum. The 'Past Life Memories' Forum.

The 'Dreams of Two Probable Past-Lives' disc. thread was of interest - as many of us have likely never experienced clear dreams on one past life alone.'

'Dreams of Two Probable Past-Lives' disc. thread

Two different discussion-threads titled, 'Past Life Dreams'

Past Life Dreams thread A

Past Life Dreams thread B
Reassessing 'Reincarnation Forum' discussion-threads specializing in dreams / possible past lives.

The Reincarnation Forum discussion thread 'Past Life Tourism' discusses what might just be the best experiences to evoke those storng deja-vu memories of interest regarding potential past-lives.

How might such experiences of travelling through regions relating to our present-life ancestry relate-to where our potential past life lived? LINK: Past Life Tourism

---------

The Reincarnation Forum (RF) discusses those things which may evoke possible past-life memories - The RF Forum discusses such situations as 'triggers."

RF discussions on triggers.

---------

Although the above discussion-threads are unrelated to dreams, it's possble that certain experiences in life may evoke dreams of interest on potential past lives.

Because this is a dream forum I wanted to make sure it related to dreams or recalling those memories or potential feelings of like/similar feelings from or in the dream.

I want to keep the conversations varied her and active. Rather then going elsewhere, I want to help build a diverse and well rounded forum that talks about all these things together, much like a book club lol

To correct the above paragraph: Although the above responses in Post #27 are unrelated to dreams, cetrain experiences e.g., like travel may trigger dreams of interest regarding past lives.

I had just listened to a few of Lennon's songs, and could not help asking if strong (plausible) cases of reincarnation it would involve 'John Lennon?'

The Reincarnation Forum (RF) is mentioned (with a LINK) in this discusison-thread.

Three ways to view this:

* If there is such a thing as reincarnation, are there Internet videos of youth whose musical styles are felt by an ample number of people to eerily share similarities to Lennon's styles?

* Are there people alive today, (who died, and reincarnated over the past few decades) who were alive back in the 1960s and 1970s when The Beatles, and The Beatles solo songs were popular? By the very nature of Lennon's and the Beatles styles, listening to this music might evoke those strong deja-vu feelings, and maybe sleep dreams.

* RF discusses whether of not people can choose when to reincarnate. If this is the case, I sense that Lennon would wait awhile before reincarnating - as Lennon is well aware, and hence very critical of present-day humanity - hence Lennon might not have reincarnated.

Personally, I'm largely inconclusive as to whether or not reincarnation happens. I've viewed the late Dr. Ian Stevenson's case studies (mentioned in this discussion-thread) with much interest.

There are some esoteric spiritual groups that I have connected with that have delved into the idea of reincarnation. However, in these groups the subject of time has come up and the idea that it doesn't exist. Strange concept, I know. I'm always looking at the clock and making sure that I'm on time but bare with me. Our highest self is the sum of all our lives and that highest aspect of our self always exists. In this space time doesn't exists and all our lives are lived concurrently rather than consecutively. When we remember a "past life" we are tuning into an aspect of our soul that is undertaking a lesson in a different space (not fully in the present) I also think that a lot of the interests that we have in the present will effect where we express a "past/future life" experience.

That feels a lot like mutliversial genetic connection. It would be and interesting thing to look at if we did pull or connect our realities that way

Anybody reassess this discusison-thread?

Personally, my main focus is with the case-studies of the late Dr. Ian Stevenson, the Reincarnation Forum (RF), and even the story on reincarnation research in a mainstream publication, 'The New York Times' - interests focusing more on case-studies (done largely from inconclusive, scientific perspectives), and less on esoteric theories.

With the above being said, what about whether, or not famous people like John Lennon have reincarnated??

Thank-you for the upvote!

Any thoughts on the reincarnations of famous people?

Id assume it does happen, but given that most want to be anonymous or have regular lifes i wonder if they just dont talk about it when they do come back.

That's a fascinating story about your husband, especially because it sounds like it happened when he was very young and before he would have had much reason to invent such a specific identity.

I'm fairly cautious about calling experiences like that evidence of reincarnation, but I do think they're interesting enough that they shouldn't automatically be dismissed either. What fascinates me most is the gap between the experience itself and the explanation we give it afterward.

A child might genuinely remember or describe something very vivid, but whether that came from reincarnation, imagination, something they overheard, a dream, or some other process is a much harder question.

Dreams make me think about this too. Sometimes people dream of places, people, or lives that feel strangely familiar even though they can't connect them to anything in their current life. I don't think that proves a past life, but the feeling of recognition itself is interesting.

It's a shame your husband's mother didn't write down more of what he said at the time. Details recorded before anyone starts asking leading questions would probably be the most useful part of stories like these.

Did he remember any of it himself later in life, or is everything you know about it from his mother?

My husband doesn't remember any of it, or believe in reincarnation! He's the type who doesn't believe in anything that hasn't been essentially proven by scientists. I do wish she had written his story down or remembered more!

The idea of reincarnation has intrigued me for a long time. I can't say I'm a strong believer in anything specific, more just open to a lot of ideas. But I feel like there may be some interesting evidence for reincarnation, or at least in the idea that people can access memories of people who lived before. The work of people like Carol Bowman and Ian Stevenson intrigues me! Apparently my husband, when he was a child, told his mom that he was a construction worker who fell off a roof and died. I believe there was more to the story, but she never wrote it down and was mostly just freaked out (as a Christian who didn't believe in reincarnation). I am sure there are probably millions of stories out there like his. Anyways, anyone have any thoughts on this?
Any thoughts on 'Post #30' in this discussion-thread?

A couple of points in 'Post #30' discuss how sleep dreams may play important roles regarding reincarnation.

The first point in 'Post #30' discusses the hypothetical consideration on reincarnation - the late John Lennon.
