A specific dream I had several years ago encouraged the 'DreamForum' discussion-thread 'Funny Dreams.'

I was consulting with a threapist several years ago when I had this funny dream: I was visiting Germany from the U.S. - the same time I had known my therapist would be in Germany - the same small city I was visiting.

The dream started-out on a mild, overcast morning in a small tree-covered park in Germany. I was walking within a few blocks of my hotel and realized, I was only walking in my shorts - that is I had misplaced my pants. Two or three other people were walking around, and hadn't noticed the presence of a guy in a rather noteworthy fashion style. I had then located my shirt hung on a roadside sign (it was unknown what the sign wording/symbols signified).

Anyways, I was determined to have my breakfast at a German style cafe. I had located a cafe in a small, modern-style designed building. I was waiting in a quene with about six people in front of me. I was wide-eyed over the choice of baked-goods in the display case. Outside the window in a courtyard, a theatrical troupe was performing in a Monty Python style performance. I, and a few other people briefly laughed, and commented.

I had then realized I was not wearing a shirt. Embraassed, I quickly exited this cafe to...search for my shirt...that was nowhere to be found. The dream went to a blur. From what I remember, I likely found another shirt at my hotel, and eventually had breakfast at some other German-style cafe, and made it to my therapist....who apparently scheduled use of an office space. I was surprisingly able to readily locate this office in an unfamillar place, within a confusing layout of old, small European cities (no convoluted maze-like routes here).

Did I ever have "an ear-full" to tell my therapist. After my therapist welcomed me, and asked about my travel experiences, I felt speechless - I didn't know where to start. I quickly found my footing in discussing those embarrassing moments - both the embarassing moments I was able to put to words (IN THIS POST), and that sense of akward moments which are difficult to put to words. Overall, we both felt these were important experiences, as a part of life.

I then mentioned my perspectives in a more sociologial, less clinical (therapy-like) fashion - that is, people here in Germany usually don't make a big-deal about guys walking around only in their shorts. I was glad I had at least located my pants before going to the cafe. I was sure the other patrons (and myself) were laughing, commenting at the Monty Python style performance, and not me!

After the dream, and my next scheduled therapist session, I had discussed this dream with my therapist - who had rough ideas as to why I had this dream.

I'm glad we both had a few laughs in the process. After-all, I had added that it would have been just our luck that the office my therapist had scheduled for use in Germany, would have had lively occupants in the next office over, periodically interrupting our session. That is, the office next store had laughing, and Oompah music. We looked at each other, both thinking, "what are they doing over there?" I probably would have asked, "how has your travel experience here been?"

P.S. At the time, my threapist invited-me, and other clients to these awesome outings...locally.

ERROR in last part of the third paragraph in original post:

I had then located my shirt hung on a roadside sign (it was unknown what the sign wording/symbols signified).

CORRECTED: I had then located my pants hung on a roadside sign (it was unknown what the sign wording/symbols signified).

Since you had a therapist, you probably known what JUNG meant with PERSONA?
the outer appearance, often symbolized by what we wear?🎏

Related to dream: Many therapists often advise their clients to "step out of their comfort zones." Travel might just "fit the bill".....to step-out of one's comfort zones.

Might there be a growing-interest in what might be described as therapist/client-tourism?

Anybody actually experience scheduled office meetings with their therapists while travelling in Europe, Asia, Latin America?

no therapist has ever asked that from me. of corse some of it might be i have such a hard time knowing where my comfort zone is. even if he or she had been incilned that way,one experience with me and they would have realized it was not necessary

Therapists can consult with a few of their clients (not just one client) who have expressed interest in travelling. Meeting places, times, agendas, etc. would be established - probably best to limit meeting-times in order to allow alosmt all of travel experiences out side of threapsit agendas.

Personally, I had a therapist who arranged occasional outings (in our local community) where clients, and non-clients alike were invited. Good experiences.

Here is another at times amusing, therapist related dream I had long-ago: On sunny, brisk winter day (in what seemed like a Coastal Calif. town), I was in a big-box store parking-lot - the same time my therapist was at this parking-lot. Out of the blue, my therapist asked, "are you going to Mt. Rushmore with our group?"

Naturally, I didn't remember any mentions of a scheduled trip to Mt. Rushmore - in the winter nonetheless. Off the top of my head, I was left to ask, "how do we travel to Mt. Rushmore (in the winter)?" My therapist's answer, "Oh, we have to find our own means to get to Mt. Rushmore........from Calif."

Obviously stymied (in a seemingly comical-like fashion - yet, I was really not amused), I'm looking at my fifteen year-old Volvo, and reluctantanty feeling my vehicle might make it to Mt. Rushmore, and slightly doubting that my vehicle can make it back to Calif. I chose to travel in my private vehicle, as I was uncomfortable travelling with groups over long distances.

The dream flashed forward, and I reluctantly found my way to Mt. Rushmore during their temporary winter-thaw (with only patches of snow on the ground). I remember wearing a normal winter jacket (one layer of winter clothing) that sufficed during a winter-thaw.

What was remarkable about this dream, I don't remember the sight of Mt. Rushmore, yet I remember being in some sort of a thrift shop/antique collectible store in a nearby town. I was impressed at the low prices of this store's late 1800s, early 1900s Western-themed items representing this region's Western history.

I'm thinking of making a sizable purchase of this store's inventory of western history themed items - on the knowledge that these items would sell for much more money in Calif. - all while calculating just how much inventory I could fit into my Volvo.

I soon felt a tap on my shoulder from my therapist - who said, "Ah-hem, we're here to have group experiences, not to focus on your profiteering!"

I bit my tongue and wanted to say, "Okay, I had seen, and experienced Mt. Rushmore (that I don't remember in my dream) with the group, as I had temporarily stepped-out from the group, after the group was briefed to become orientated with the local area." I would have also wanted to speak in a mild sarcasm to my therapist, "most of us in the group were asked to find their own ways to get here, and back to Calif. in the winter you know!"

I did the wise thing, and woke-up-relieved, and felt this therapist really wanted me to step out of my comfort zone without challenging, risky travel adventures.

P.S. A funny afterthought to the dream, I never sensed there was a good time to ask my therapist if they would be willing to haul some of my Western-themed inventory back to Calif......in their car! No, I've never visited Mt. Rushmore.

Alright, the last goofy dream I had was about 3 months ago. I'm sitting in an auditorium with a handful of other people and a woman is at the podium up-front doing roll call. She stops before saying the next last name and she hesitantly calls out for Goatman pronounced like you would say Goldman or Silverman. Well apparently I didn't like it and stood and and yelled "How dare you! I'm sick and tired of this sh*t!" So I march angrily to the middle aisle area and corrected the woman "It's GOAT MAN!" and I storm out and that's that.
