How have your dreams changed from childhood to adulthood?

When I was a young lad, I used to get nightmares all the time. Now that I’m older, I hardly ever get them… and honestly, I feel like I don’t dream nearly as often as an adult. Maybe once a week.

How did your dreams change from childhood to adulthood?

I use to have better control over my dreams, I've lost a lot of the lucid ability i use to have... and for a long period over the last 9ish years my dreams weren't as vivid as as recently.
Lately they are very similar to when I was younger. Though some have been slightly more intense then others.

Have you changed anything in your process to bring them back? Was it intentional?

It started after I began to realize the huge issues in my marriage, slowly at first and then when I began trying to recall who I was and think about my situation, (it was not a physically abusive marriage...but it was bad in other more soul stealing ways) I got a new friend who helped me question and find the things that use to make me happy and begin the process of addressing trauma, which lead me to reconnect with someone I respect and care for, who is that rock for me mentally. They just always have been.
I think all the upheaval and the memories slowly coming back from my past while I slowly work through things. . . Started it over again.
You know how they say emotional, or physical abuse can make your mind lock down so you can just keep functioning.
Until it's in a safe place to work through it, and then you finally start actually going through the physical and mental break downs that come with it.
Because your body isn't needing to stay in that fight and flight mode.

Anyways that might of been a bit to much or personal sorry. Not sorry. Lol

This is a good friend. Sometimes, all you need is one person asking the right questions to find what you need in life…

I agree. You probably wouldn’t have liked the dream content when you were in that space. I liken it to drinking/smoking, it’s something to do when you’re in a good mood, not a bad one.

Glad to hear that you’re doing better!

Don’t ever be sorry for telling your story when someone asks for it! :)

Better is relative, Just glad I am processing now. My last few dreams have been kinda choas. Funny and weird and involves a lot of random events and people.
Fun fact I hate Zombies and have only ever had 3 zombie dreams and remember each one, 2 from years ago... and one recently. Lol

in my case, my dreams have not essentially changed from childhood to adulthood .only now i know i know more,so wider variety of subjects.otherwise not greatly different i can still recall certain dreams from my childhood

You do not remember, but you dream every night..the process of rembering has a lot to do with how long is one exposed to media in every form. I have recall problems when i watch a film, so i prefer to read myself into sleep🎏

Allow me to provide a cheeky-yet-serious paraphrase that some will recognize:

"When I was a child...I thought like a child," I acted like a child, I dreamed like a child. As I evolve further away from childhood and deeper into the journey of my life, I put those childish dreams into proper perspective to move forward greatly enhanced, both because I put childish ways behind me and because I learned from them. And even now I see only a poor reflection, yet hope and strive for the day I will see more.

(A borrowing from my namesake, who was also a rambling writer who struggled mightily to convey complex insights in such a basic format.)
