I had a strange and vivid dream last night. I was inside a house (it took the shape of my grandmother's house, which has all my life been a very common setting for my dreams) with a bunch of people. I don't remember the start of the dream or who the people were. I was there with my son (5 years old) and these other families.
In the corner of the room were a bunch of plants in what I think was a large planter. I looked over there and saw a weird little venus flytrap, except instead of being in a pot or planted, it could sort of walk. And it was walking around to try to catch a little flying bug. But this other plant, a bigger plant, got snagged by the flytrap and started defending itself... aggressively. This plant was actually in the dirt, the way plants are supposed to be. But it defended itself by flinging out little leaf needles and then a spray of some kind of liquid. It started small, but each time the area it would hit would grow until it was hitting most of the room. I remember not knowing if it could hurt us or not, and not knowing what the liquid was, and I picked up my son and took him inside the nearby bathroom to get out of the danger zone. There were other kids there and I remember thinking their parents would have to get them away because I had my own kid to worry about.
I remember sort of looking out from that bathroom and wondering what to do about the plant. I was apart from most of the other adults so I couldn't talk to them about it. There was water leaking all over the floor of the room, and I was worried about the damage to the house as well as the possible danger from the plants. And that was when I woke up.
Anyways, I thought this one was interesting, and super vivid. No idea what it means, if anything. Usually plants only attack me by making me sneeze (seasonal allergies). The event being at my grandmother's house may have some meaning, but I'm not sure what. She was a plant lover and did have a lot of them in her house. But she's been dead since 2012, and the last time I saw the house was about 2.5 years ago when it was for sale after being thoroughly remodeled to the point of being almost unrecognizable.
